Hey! Have you heard yet? The whole world depends on you to make things at least a little bit better! We all need you. You don’t want that responsibility? No problem. You’re not signing a contract; you haven’t made some sort of Faustian pact.
Simply by being here, the world and life as we know it is different, and it can be a way better different. We all, deep down, want to believe we make a difference and can do and be something to make an even bigger difference. We all, superficially, may listen to our ego and not believe that. Ego, indeed, complicates this, for ego tells us we are insignificant, that others know better, that we must attend practical matters, that such spiritual considerations are for our spare time. Ego lies, but it lies because it is limited. We tell ourselves a much more damaging lie when we accept ego lies into our mindset, our thoughts, our brains, and make decisions to not hear truth, our own personal truth. We have a portion of energy in us comprised of eternal Spirit, Divinity: Heart. Because we have such energy in us, we are linked to the whole Universe; we matter. The world is changed, the Universe is changed, because we are here, housing a portion of eternity in a mortal body. My writing focuses on helping others discover Self and life purpose and to encourage them. I will write about it, but I will not tell you if you do these things, you’re saved. Nope, because the truth is you must do this for yourself, see it for yourself, live it for yourself. No degree saying you’ve mastered a certain body of knowledge. No formal ceremonies or rites of initiation. That doesn’t mean all those things can’t be good and useful, but you establish the relationship with your own Heart. As I wrote last night, the cue for us to begin a conversation with Heart happens when we start questioning who we are and why we are here, which can present in many alternative forms. Then, during those moments, ask Heart; directly address it. Listen. Write it down. No right or wrong ways of doing this exist. Just do it. Once a relationship is established, we get to know how that spiritual entity of Heart moves, speaks, and operates in us. Now, we can get really excited because we consider the big picture of why we are here and how we can make a difference: life Purpose! I want to be careful about this. I want to provide a framework and not a locked in process. This was my experience, but the elements of it can be enjoyed and known by anyone. I discovered my life Purpose by knowing I once again had frustrating questions and spoke with my Heart about it: “Now, what do I do?” My Heart and I had a very real conversation, one focusing on what I wanted to do, what I felt passionate and enthusiastic about, what were my curiosities, interests. I have ways that I instinctively used to gain my focus, techniques I had used for years in education. I have used these in helping people since then, but I am not sharing them here. I have an array, and when I work with someone individually, I choose what I feel, what my Heart tells me, would work. Again, no rights or wrongs — just freedom to help others discover. And that night when I co-created life Purpose with my Heart, I felt such joy, peace, encouragement, and purpose. But there was more than that. I heard the voice of my Heart. I felt the name emerging, the name I would identify as Heart, a name descriptive of my deepest motivation: Discovery. Because I was asked, I will summarize what I have shared to this point. 1. Hear my own soul-searching questions. 2. Believe and feel I have some deep part of myself I have never formally met — only interacted with as an acquaintance. 3. Speak directly to that deep Me and listen, think, ask more questions, and even write down what I heard. (I wrote the poem that night — “The Birdbath Moon.”) 4. Determine a spiritual name for Heart. If you do this, consider passions, curiosities, achievements, enthusiasm, interests, dreams. Then, become more aware of Heart, that energy of eternal Spirit, and how it operates to enlighten us about ourselves, our total person. What name could characterize that? That became a new name for me, my life Purpose, spiritual energy name. More comes after this, but for tonight, this is it. It’s pretty mechanistic writing in some ways, but I feel an urgency to share it. I am working to illustrate it in story form in my novel, The Fellowship of the Heart. What I know for sure is this: many people long to live lives of purpose, significance, and love, so I continue to explore, to discover, and to share these conceopts with anyone who needs it. Much blessing!

I love analogies, as long as they don’t confuse the issue someone is trying to illustrate. I have a tendency to over-explain them by way of pointing out where they fall short. I did that this morning, but I won’t tonight. I’ll let the analogy of a hybrid car stand on its own merits, leaving you to see the limitations. I’m using it to make one big point.
Let me preface this by saying I know hybrid cars coordinate gasoline and electric usage and all that stuff via computerization. Here’s my use of the analogy. Imagine a driver zipping down a rural road, heading to nowhere in particular, and running out of gasoline. Frustration sets in. Buttons are pushed, randomly, wildly. “Why is this happening to me? Why did I get stuck here? What am I supposed to do?” Suddenly, a voice is heard: “Please engage electric mode.” The oblivious driver cries, “I don’t even know where I was going? How will I get anywhere?” “Please engage electric mode. The control button is…” “What am I going to do, now? I keep ending up in this same situation. Stupid car. Stupid manufacturers. I’ll never buy another one of these junk heaps again.” Okay, you get it, right? My big point is this: Whenever those questions start welling up from deep within, we need to stop ourselves from engaging in the classic pity party, especially the blame. Know, be quite sure, that when you start asking those questions, a deep, internal, eternal part of you, your Heart, begins answering. You need to listen. You need to not be venting questions of frustration directed at no one. Awareness, my friends, awareness. Direct the questions, the frustrations to your Heart and then listen. As I develop the Grand Unified Theory of Humanity (G.U.T.H.), I would like to share ideas and concepts that will help people to discover that core Self. What I have described above is the first step in coming to know that portion of eternal Spirit that came with us into this deal called life. Our Heart is that core Self, our little piece of divinity and eternity. Why would we not tap into that energy source? Some folks believe they hit rough patches and don’t need anything different, but they end up asking the same questions over and over. Ego-gas will only take people so far. Ego is limited. Ego isolates and keeps us in survival mode. It doesn’t, can’t answer the big questions of life. Ego is our basic operating system designed to get us by, not help us fly. Turning to Heart, we can get the answers. They are within us, in our portion of eternal Spirit pulsing through these mortal bodies. When we speak with Heart, I think it’s a good idea to have some means to record the thoughts that you will hear in your conversation. Write it down. Heart waits, speaks, very naturally. I do it every day, and I write it down. It doesn’t have to be everything; we are all different. The important thing is to be aware. Be aware of those big questions of life. Be aware that’s our cue to direct them to our own Heart. Be aware you will hear an answer. Then, be aware this is self-awakening, self-awareness. Know that Heart relates us and our longings and questions to the Spirit of the whole Universe, to the energies of life available to us, to others who are awakened, to, well, everything. Everything, that is, except for the negatives — blaming others for anything we can put on them; fearing to go forward in life; doubting anything will change. Heart leads us to know core Self, itself, and to thrive in that knowledge. How? That will come later. Enough for tonight. The G.U.T.H. begins here. Without this relationship, the problems humanity faces are exposed. With it, we recognize the possibilities; we can look at the lives of those we admire and see, “Yeah, they knew this stuff.” It’s sure better to turn to your Heart than banging your hand on the dashboard of a car that’s out of gas but full of electricity: Switch on Heart, Baby, switch on Heart. Do you know how I know I tend to have attention deficit disorders. I’m going against almost all ‘normal’ advice and writing two books at the same time. Now, I didn’t plan it this way, really. As I evaluated what I need to accomplish, I realized I needed to do this. After all, I’m almost always reading fiction and nonfiction books at the same time, so why not write that way? Like I said, though, I did not schedule things this way.
In my writing the last few nights, I have been laying out the premise of my ebook, one which I am writing while working on my novel. I have not mentioned The Fellowship of the Heart, my novel I am rewriting, for awhile. However, the ebook explains my philosophy behind the fiction. So, in a pretty direct way, the guts of my novel are showing. Two nights ago, I wrote about self-awakening as the foundation on which the rest of one’s life is built. It is not some spiritual exercise to fit in to make one feel better when things get tough. Coming to know Heart provides the basis on which we build life; it is the reason, along with the expression of core Self, we enter into this realm of time and mortality. We live Self and the expression of personal truth in the life purpose we create. Then, last night I looked at the emotional side of this foundation, the one in which people can know their Heart is speaking to them, affecting them, because they come to the point of asking the big questions of life about who they really are and why they are here. Time to block out all other voices and speak to the Heart. Now, to address the title idea of the book — although I don’t know the actual title yet — the Grand Unified Theory of Humanity, G.U.T.H.. Hell! It might be the Theory of Everything Humanity. It’s my theory that explains the forces and dynamics observed in humanity. What happens in us and to us individually affects our society, and individual societies and cultures affect nations. What is awesome to me is that we come into this life with an energy of the eternal, the divine, within us, pulsing through us. It is that which we come here to discover and live out here in time and space. However, we enter this world with the default operating system of ego, one which is suited quite well to keep us alive on an animal level, one which uses an amazing array of strategies to keep us focusing on and preserving self. The conflict arises because we have that energy of eternity, that which I call Heart, circulating in us, which means we have connections to everything outside of self. Ego works to keep us isolated from all of that which is unnecessary for basic survival; it binds us from entering into the grandeur of our connection to the cosmos. When our minds and souls, the logic and emotions, sense this conflict, we hear those questions arising about self-identity and purpose. Heart speaks to mind and emotion through the shroud of Ego wrapped around our innermost self. Heart wants us to understand we do have a core Self identity, one which fully recognizes and operates beyond the bounds of survival and carries us into the realm of the infinite. However, it is not some surreal, ethereal journey, but one we can devise, know, and execute in our relatively brief time here every single day. Therefore, we have responsibility when we hear those manifestations of Heart to consciously respond to them. Speak directly, whether audibly or internally, to Heart. “What are you saying to me?” “Who am I, really?” “If I were to name my core Self, what would it be?” And so many, many more questions. This is the beginning. This is where we connect ourselves with those inner longings of purpose to experience fulfillment, significance, peace, love, and all that goes with these. Let me make it clear, though. That responsibility is not to me or anyone else. Ultimately, it’s your decision, your joy, your life. But I will tell you that to deny that or fall back time and again to ego rationalizations and responses will keep you in a cycle of upset and discontent or deadness of soul. Choices. While Ego isolates from all else, Heart connects us, relates us, to the Universe. We can enter a path of growth, awakening, and self-awareness that yields new magic day by day, that gives voice to that energy of eternity residing in us, our core Self. With all of this as a foundation, the actions and behaviors of life can be analyzed. I plan on doing that in my little primer on the Grand Unified Theory of Humanity. Ever heard anybody say, “I feel like I’m wasting my life…”? Now, fill in the ellipsis: “…at this job. …with this person. …” Maybe you’ve said something like this, or maybe at some point you’ve expressed you feel like you are supposed to be something different, something more, or perhaps there are regrets about a path you didn’t pursue, a relationship you let slip away, or that “road less traveled,” “The Road Not Taken.” I have felt some of these things at different points in my life.
These ideas mask a deeper truth, the truth of who we really are. The source of these feelings spring from an undiscovered, unknown core Self, one who is there screaming, one whose voice longs to be heard. When we feel like no one knows or sees or hears the true us, the reason is simple: we haven’t discovered that core Self. That true, wise essence of a person is bound until we consciously hear the sort of sayings above, call on our Heart, and listen and choose to discover and truly begin to live. That core Self is powerful, too, but like the proverbial genie in a bottle, Self can’t express power until we free it. That smothered, voiceless Self is the energy bringing the searching questions to our conscious mind. Last night I referenced some of the effects of not responding to those whispers of desperation or sometimes laments of despair: depression, mental and emotional illnesses, and symptoms of these that spread to society when a critical mass live in Ego and not Heart. Ego, either our own or others’, prevents us from pursuing those great questions of life for ourselves. “Oh, don’t get too crazy here. You know you need that job. How could you walk away from him or her? You need stability in your life. Blah. Blah. BLAH!” And when we cave to those ideas and brush aside and continue to silence Heart, the effects intensify. Perhaps the worst effect is that of resignation to our lot in life, resignation Ego happily helps us to rationalize into something stoic and philosophic. And the screams of Self are stifled once again. When we buy into others’ purposes, either deceived into a false, happy acceptance (“Oh, I just love this”) or apathetically resign themselves to their false fate, we can expect the final outcome to be any of myriad outcomes: self and/or other destructiveness, decadence, despair, and too many too list. A choice is given here: a false life fed by Ego or a personal truth nourished and grown by Heart. We need to create our own life Purpose, design a vision to express it, and engage in a detailed mission to carry it out. Wait! That sounds like a company or something. It is. It’s the company of core Self, with Heart as CEO, and our own mind and soul as the one who will carry out the mission. The business of core Self must come before any other — IF we want to know significance, fulfillment, happiness, and a sense of personal purpose, of living truthfully because we are living our own truth. The question is, then, what do we want? Do we want to slog on in life, knowing we have all at some time or another heard the questions of the opening paragraph in our own mind and soul, or do we want to free the genie of core Self, give that Self voice and opportunity to express all of the life energy existing in our Heart? How would it feel to know that we, personally, are making a difference in this world, a difference that engenders peace, prosperity, progress, and love? Denial of core Self creates absolutely none of those things. Denial of core Self satisfies the Ego, leaving the true Us unsatisfied, screaming full force with no vocalizations as it sometimes happens in dreams. Voicelessness, not being heard, understood, or valued forces people to live in emptiness. Not so good. We always have questions to ask and answer if we know our own Heart. We can be, if we consciously choose and practice it, to be in the fellowship of the Heart on a daily basis. Choices, my friends, choices. How does knowing self affect life, the lives of individuals, of society, of the world? Is it really that important? Life goes on, even though the majority of people would not be able to answer the question, “Who are you, really, as core Self?”
Therefore, if individuals work, have relationships, and enjoy some things sometimes, what difference does it make? If society continues, cities build community centers, and governments govern, what difference does it make? Have you looked at the rates of mental health problems in the United States alone? Do you know that about 25% of the population suffers from some form of mental illness (CDC Mental Illness Surveillance, Dec. 2, 2013)? Oh, that may not mean much to some, but how does the figure of over $300 billion sound for the economic impact of these illnesses (CDC Mental Illness Surveillance, Dec. 2, 2013)? Yes, life goes on, but what is the quality of that life? Ask people you know, if it’s not pushing things, if they are happy with their life. Anytime you hear a “but” or an “except” or any word like those, it counts as a No. What is my point? If the foundation is not solid, not built according to engineering plans, then the whole damn structure is weak or ineffective or unsatisfactory or substandard in some way. Think about the natural disasters we experience, most recently Hurricane Matthew. Even though it was super costly and destructive in the United States, how much more was it in someplace like Haiti? A lot. Know why, in part? Structures in third world nations are not well built; they lack foundations. You know what? People still live in them and life goes on, but it doesn’t mean it’s the way it should be. I have known people in the road building industry. I don’t know if it’s still the same, but years ago, if a roadway was built by a contractor and if state or federal inspectors found that the grade was off by more than one-quarter of an inch from the specifications, the road would have to be torn up and redone. Pretty damn costly to a company. I have also watched several commercial buildings being constructed kind of up close and personal over the last few years. For a three story building, I watched a fifty foot foundation excavation being dug and the concrete being poured. It looks like rough, crude work from a distance, but it is meticulous. Nothing can be off. In a commercial building, structural steel sits on top of that concrete, steel that forms the basis of floors, walls, windows, emergency systems, everything. That foundation cannot deviate from specifications. Now, what is my deeper point? We come with specifications. We need to have a foundation on which to build and a structure that can withstand whatever blasts against it. We come into this realm of time and space from eternal energy because somewhere, somehow we want to experience life in mortal bodies. We come with a core Self, made up of eternal energy, life energy, and we emerge here to discover that. The foundation discovery of core Self provides the basis of all the positive aspects of humanity, things we live for. Life can go on and does for very many, too many, without knowing this deepest Self, but when that happens, all the personal mental and emotional ills accompany that lack. Then, it expands, not in slowly fading ripples, but in tsunami-strength waves, undermining society and governments. Any doubt about that should be laid to rest if anyone examines the current American presidential campaign, not to mention all the other campaigns for hundreds of other offices — like I said, reflections of mental and emotional illnesses. I have spent much more space on this than I thought I would, but the thoughts kept flowing. Obviously, I want my thoughts to be clear, but I want them to be more than that. This morning I wrote this: “I want to write so that each word, phrase, clause, sentence oozes with the energies of eternity: love, compassion, empathy, wisdom, power — words infused with these, juiced up and oozing with these. And then, the readers can squeeze the words, wring out what they need. This is my Heart and the care I put into my work. Now, that doesn’t guarantee great writing, but it does guarantee that the expression of core Self is being executed honestly, enthusiastically, willingly.” And there my foundation is showing. Life energy, the energies of eternity, can only be fully expressed when we know core Self. That allows us to create our own purpose, design our own fate, and live out our purpose while we are here. This is the beginning, these thoughts, these sentiments, of my idea of the Grand Unified Theory of Humanity in the ebook I’m writing. It is such because on this foundation rests all of human experience and constructs as social creatures. Indeed, I want my readers to be able to wring out any usefulness they can from my words, because I care, because I love, because it’s part of the expression of my core Self. Blessings — multiple, deep, foundational blessings! |
Questions to consider:How many times have you asked yourself or simply thought about the following questions?
Who am I, really? What is my truth? How do my actions reveal what I really feel and believe? What would I do with my life if I could do anything? What is my passion? Why am I here? How can I discover answers to any of these questions? If you have considered any of these questions, I hope that my experiences and writing will give you some guidance. Please read my blog and comment and share your thoughts. I would love to hear from you! Archives
