I want to speak a bit more about magic this evening. I have written about the magic available to us in life every day, and I wrote about magic being a personal magic. Magic has to do with things that are not possible in the normal realm of explanation, i.e., magic isn’t rooted in commonly known natural truth.
When we awaken to Heart and come to know Self, we gain personal truth, an entrance into the inner, spiritual world of our own heart, a world of magic.
Why? Because when I chose to live under the Ego operating system, I couldn’t see the big picture of unity, the connectedness of all things, at least not as fully as I do now. How many people have wondered who they really are and what their purpose is in being here? When we awaken and become self-aware, we know. Magic. Left to the natural order of soul operation, ego prevents this personal knowledge and truth. It’s a supernatural operation to come to know personal truth because ego is the natural operating system, and that’s mostly the way I have examined the phenomena of magic.
Because I have heard and known the truth of my own heart, a spiritual, inner world of magic has been opened to me: the the joy of knowing my core Self, Discovery, and living a life Purpose, which communicates that Self to the Universe. This brings me into the magic of love for Self which allows love to be spread, my love, to the Universe, to any with whom I’m blessed to connect. It makes me cherish, treasure fellow souls, love them, which is magic, indeed, in an egotistical, me-first, you-hurt-first world.
How does it work for me? My Heart mediates with eternal Spirit, with whom I am one, and applies spiritual, eternal truths I need to help me express Self, grow, develop, and live life fully in this illusion of time, but a blessed illusion it is. Then, magic exists in my Self connecting with Other Selves in order to know and feel love, significance, unity, and an infinite variety of blessing.
All of the above is the internal, personally known magic, and it is very real to me. However, let me get more personal here. When I am in this state of fellowship with my heart, I have access to energies of life that seem supernatural to many people. Maybe more importantly, those energies have access to Me. This is the type of magic we often think of — wands and spells and shamans and all that sort of thing.
For every being who opens self to Heart, many forms of magic exist, many expressions, and I believe they are all valid when properly used. I believe this because truth is relative and personal, and we call on those things that help us grow in expressing core Self to the world.
When people seek to use these vehicles of magic in ego, they don’t work so well and end up exposing magical practice to being maligned. This happens sometimes when the magic works a little and ego drives people to preach their practice as doctrine, usually to make money or gain importance or fame.
Instead, expressions of magic work for me, at least, as affirmations, confirmations, encouragements in my journey. I’m grateful for those who share their knowledge in various fields, who really have become experts because it is their life purpose, and their knowledge helps me.
For instance, I use feathers, and I know that the energies of certain birds are significant, speak to me, affirm, confirm, and encourage me, but I don’t look for some booming voice from the clouds to tell me what to do. It all works as my heart applies the energies I sense in feathers from my totem birds to my mind and soul. The difference between some ethereal fate telling me what to do and what I am talking about here is this: I sense, perceive, and decide what they mean to me. I create the message on which to act, well, at least co-create.
Carl Jung said, “Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” Magic, as the use of physically-based practices like feathers or crystals or anything, results from awakening to self and then Self senses the energies needed to move us towards our visions.
I hope you see the difference, because it is a reasoned difference. And I promise, it will have direct application to things going on in my novel and the magic Eric and Anne Lafarnge will encounter in their lives and those of folks they know.
Here’s to the fellowship of the heart, both novel and reality, and all the magic afforded therein!
Questions to consider:
How many times have you asked yourself or simply thought about the following questions?
Who am I, really?
What is my truth?
How do my actions reveal what I really feel and believe?
What would I do with my life if I could do anything?
What is my passion?
Why am I here?
How can I discover answers to any of these questions?
If you have considered any of these questions, I hope that my experiences and writing will give you some guidance. Please read my blog and comment and share your thoughts. I would love to hear from you!
