Over the last 10 months, I have addressed a wide variety of topics, all of them through the filter of my own Heart. Through the articles, I have shown how Heart works in relation to life: the arts, social issues, politics, history, psychology, philosophy, education. Obviously, I am not an expert or degreed in all of these things, but I am an expert in my Heart and in reading life energies.
What is the reality for any of us when it comes to our own lives? We know best; the energy of our own Heart speaks to us — well, when we respond to Heart, and this is why I have worked to make sure this is unequivocally clear. We — you and me — are too important not to spend whatever time is necessary to calmly and thoroughly consider the workings of our own being. And all those areas of life I write about, the way I write about them, the filter that I apply — they are all dependent on self-awareness and self-awakening. When I refer to the 10 Steps involved in spiritual awakening, I make the point that they, in some form, fashion, or order, fulfill the reasons for the existence of us humans as a race. This is why I have called this concept the Grand Unified Theory of Humanity (G.U.T.H.). The Spirit of all life, of all that exists makes itself evident throughout the wonders of its whole Universe. Spiritual longings of humanity expressed in infinite ways — science, engineering, arts, relationships, so many careers — reveal we have some eternal component, some part of Spirit associated with each of us in some way. I have termed that Heart, since without our physical Heart we have no physical life, without metaphysical Heart we have no sense of self or purpose for existence. Along with examining Heart, I have explored the function of Ego because remaining oblivious to and/or rejecting Heart leaves us under the control of Ego’s operating system. Ego does not bring anyone to knowledge of Self or sense of life Purpose. This conflict, tension, and contrary nature of Ego and Heart create the spiritual formulas that reconcile human existence under the Grand Unified Theory of Humanity. It explains the wide array and spectrum of human experience and behavior. It explains the broad range of cultural, societal, and political/governmental expressions, because the experience of individuals are additive in terms of vibrational, life energies, and in fact, they are exponential when they reach a critical mass, which comprises group dynamics. (I think this is where there is an intersection and integration of the G.U.T. of physics and humanity). Ultimately, I have developed the framework of the 10 Steps within the G.U.T.H. to simply help us discover our Heart, to find our way to our own Heart and then through that awakening to begin experiencing significance, fulness, and goodness of life. When Heart is consciously, purposefully engaged as our life operating system, we desire to find our way out to others to express the Spirit of Love we have discovered in Self. This is why I analyze and write about such a wide array of topics under the revealing energy of Heart. These elements of G.U.T.H. interweave, relate, and describe the phenomena of everyday life. Blessings for a spectacular, fun, gratitude filled week!

“As tho’ to breathe were life…” Tennyson understood Ego and Heart. Ego accepts the status quo, just happy to exist. Just existing. Some existence.
The series that I have published over the last eight days lays out ten steps that I believe are experiential stages in the awakening of the human soul. They don’t necessarily happen in order; they don’t necessarily happen over similar amounts of time. In fact, others call some of these Steps by other names. As long as people awaken to Self, it doesn’t matter. I hope my work helps others to discover that Self, life Purpose, and in general, a full, significant, fun, and joyful life. I have called the basis and effects of our awakening the Grand Unified Theory of Humanity (G.U.T.H.) because it provides explanation for human experience and behaviors, roots for human existence, and traces us all back to the same essence: Spirit. When we arrive here with body, mind, and soul, we also come equipped with two operating systems, to use the computer analogy: Ego and Heart. Ego operates as the default setting; Heart, though, we must awaken to and install consciously, i.e., make a choice. And that choice is our awakening. Heart supplies us with a portion of eternal Spirit, a part of Spirit desirous of knowing the richness, thrill, amazement, and wonder of a mortal existence. Sometimes, though, we feel negative emotions; we experience hurt or hurt others. Why, when and if Life offers such amazement, do we see and experience discord, hurt, sorrow, destruction, death, and the whole litany of personal distress and illnesses and societal injustices? The answers to that are many and complex, but to me negative experiences devolve their existence to Ego. We come equipped with Ego because it isolates and protects us from infinitely perceived dangers. We come programmed with that Ego as our initial operating system because we begin as fragile infants, and we need it. Ego is part of an animal necessity for us, working like instinct in a very, well, egocentric way, but it is one that causes children to draw back from harm and pull sensory stimulators into their range of experience. Children, though, as they quickly come to more complex thought, understand another operating system exists in them, one that enables them to see life differently; however, Ego and an ego-driven society strive to keep children from installing that Heart Operating System, and those efforts are very effective. This is why as we grow into adulthood we need an awakening. When we don’t choose as a child, which most of us do not, then we require an epiphany to hear and respond to Heart within us, to acknowledge Heart, accept and love Heart, our core Self. We, then, make a conscious decision to uninstall Ego and install Heart. Humans not only come equipped with these two diverse operating systems but also with other facets, wonderful facets, of our Being: mind, soul, and body. Since we are complex creatures, our awakening isn’t as simplistic as a computer uninstall of Ego and installation of Heart. We engage in a journey and work through the process, experiencing what I have described in the 10 Steps. The point when we “get it” becomes the epiphany, the awakening. That’s when we first know fellowship with our Heart, a fellowship that allows us entrance into the understanding of G.U.T.H., that principle unifying the rationale and mysteries of humanity. Of course, it is a unified theory because it also shows that when people don’t awaken, their experiences are explained. More to come tomorrow. For tonight — may the blessing of awakening to your own Heart be yours. Confession: Last night I didn’t even label my article as Step 9. It was! In that stage of awakening, it helps so much to allow and receive blessing, goodness, and positive life energy while releasing anything not serving our life Purpose and Vision.
Confession: When I started this series, I envisioned 12 steps. Yeah, I tend to see fine gradations of almost anything I think about, but those are generally only useful to me. I didn’t think two of my ideas merited individual treatment, so those two concepts I didn’t treat individually are rolled into two other steps. Okay, I guess confession is good for the soul! Tonight, I have some questions. What happens to the “mass of [people] who lead lives of quiet desperation,” resign themselves to mediocrity, or who, for various reasons, reject this process of awakening, who refuse to hear their own Heart-Spirit? They suffer a wide array of difficulties, tragedies, and misery; in fact, in my experience, observations, and research, most of the so-called ills of society and humanity rest on neglecting or rejecting awakening, which is one reason I have called this the Grand Unified Theory of Humanity (G.U.T.H.). Who are among the most miserable? Those who ignore, inure, or convince themselves that self-awakening is not possible, that it is some inconsequential philosophy and has no bearing on real, everyday life — these resign themselves to lives of mediocrity, lives of un-lived dreams, lives of “almost but not quite,” lives of discontent, anger, blame, hatred, fear, victimization. Or, even worse in my opinion, are those who go all in on Ego and purposefully cause all those negative things to those who have simply defaulted to Ego, those who are the victimizers in life. Either extreme needs Ego to supply rationalizations and justifications, so much so that they either disregard Heart or allow the energies and impulses of Heart to fade. Does one side have merit over the other? Is one right or one wrong? Are my beliefs and philosophy right over either of them? No, it’s not a matter of right or wrong. It’s a matter of choice and degree of consequences. It’s a matter of choice to engage in the miracles, magic, and wonders of life or to live in some degree of emptiness, misery, gluttonous joy, or whatever. And maybe that’s exactly why some folks came here, but they have Heart, and Heart would want us to experience the best. Our choice, though. What are my feelings about those who have not awakened to Self, victims or victimizers? The exact same way I feel about those who are in the Fellowship of the Heart: Love. Acceptance. I love them and accept them. This is Step 10: Love and Acceptance. Love emanates from Heart-Spirit. We learn to love the most unlovely and difficult one: ourselves. Without loving and accepting we are Spirit at our core, that we are eternal at our core, that we have access to often unimagined powers, that we have the ability to know unity within Self and throughout this Universe — without that knowledge and experience, we shortchange core Self, Heart, which means the greatest sadness is we don’t enjoy fulness, significance, and love — all this existence has to offer. No matter what personality a person who has awakened to core Self has, no matter how surly or quirky or ignorant or pleasant or brilliant — no limit of personalities — everyone who has come to know Self and seeks to live, process, and filter life through Heart will know that underneath it all, the primary emotion, the main drive, is Love. And love drives us to acceptance. We engage in love relationships — every one — because we understand and appreciate the other, whether parts of ourselves or others. This means we accept enough to commit to love. So, when we who are awakened live Purpose, Vision, and Mission and work in flow on a daily basis to achieve our Goals to make Self known, we do it based on love for this Universe and its inhabitants. We do it based on our personal fellowship with our own Heart, and in Unity with others in The Fellowship of the Heart. My purpose is to help others discover these things, to help them consider the possibilities of eternity held in their own Heart, possibilities that can be realized here and now. When each of us, no matter what our purpose is, seek those possibilities of eternity in this illusion of time, we are permeated with Love. We accept our own personal truth, and we live it out of love for all. Blessings to you as you consider the Grand Unified Theory of Humanity and the joy of The Fellowship of the Heart! Why would we expect anything to be different? It’s the beauty and the fulness of the creation of eternal Spirit. Is it any wonder that we can describe a Grand Unified Theory of Humanity? Should we believe that awakening to core Self would not be followed by the ability to create and live Purpose? No, it is inevitable.
However, it is not easy. Why? Because we still have old Ego circuitry imprinted in our being, conflicts will arise. We need to learn some things, and when we do, productive, satisfying, effortless, focused work occurs, work in clicking off goals one after another, goals that effect our Mission which expresses our Vision which gives form to our Purpose that is the expression of core Self to this world. Yes! It all works together in this beautiful flow. To enjoy this flow, to live and work in this flow, we need to deal with the Ego conflicts. It’s not really that difficult, but sometimes it feels better to let Ego have its way and sway. Sometimes excuses feel good, let us off the hook, but they never help accomplish anything positive, productive, or peaceful. They create turmoil. Ego. What do we do? Several actions serve us well to keep us in the flow of really powerful work so we even mow through the little daily goals with ease and joy. I will state these simple things, but I am not doing it glibly. I just can’t elaborate on something that we can only apply personally to our own experience. Here they are. We need to allow blessing and goodness to flow into our lives. I know they are all around me, comments and insights from people when they don’t even know they are giving such. I take experiences like a baby’s smile, a student’s observation about some writing or project I am helping with, comments and likes about my posts on social media, offers of help from friends or times they ask me to go out. And scads more. If I allow Ego to make me discount such things in responses of false humility or abject disbelief or excuses to not respond, then I miss out on blessings and goodness. Recognize and allow these simple — and sometimes greater — experiences and be blessed. Recognize that the Universe, eternal Spirit itself, works such things together for our good. The resulting feelings and mindset assure us of the reality and value of elements of life like synchronicity and help to keep us moving in our mission and accomplishing our goals seamlessly and effortlessly — along with our motivation. The flip side of allowing positives into our lives is releasing negative things — letting go. The definition of negative changes when we know core Self and create life Purpose. They aren’t defined as bad things; they are simply any habits, thoughts, actions, relationships, or whatever that don’t help us move onward and upward in expressing core Self. These will be things generated by our own Ego or others’ Egos forcing themselves on us. In my life there are complex reasons I have watched television. Now, I never had any desire to allow this to be an avocation, but I watched enough that it interfered with my writing and work at times. Release it until writing is done. Sometimes it may be spending money I am not comfortable with. Let the thing go, whatever it was: don’t buy it. Many possibilities present themselves for all of us. Allowing and releasing eliminate many Ego challenges that impede working in the flow. Once you experience working in the flow, you understand the power of a Heart-generated daily life, the power and blessing of expressing You in a very real way. The only way Spirit as given to us in our Heart can know the fullness and joy of this complex human existence is through coming here in us, leaving us to discover Self, and then living that Self in the physical body. That’s why work is so important — meaningful, full, diligent, soul- and mind-thrilling work. Walt Whitman truly understood this. In “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry,” he says in Section 5, “I too had been struck from the float forever held in solution, / I too had receiv’d identity by my body, / that I was I knew was of my body, and what I should be I knew I should be of my body.” That phrase of being “struck from the float…” means he was from that field of eternal Spirit energy and the way Spirit has to engage in feeling this existence is through our bodies, so we receive that identity of Spirit in the form of Heart, core Self. If we are to be true to that Self, we need to validate it through our work. This is why our work must be centered on expressing that Self, but it has to be real work. And the only way to work in the spirit of Spirit is in the flow, that idea of the “float forever held in solution.” We must express it. So, allow the blessings and goodness that encourage us in the work, and release the negative energy that hinders the work. Sometimes, that includes the actual job in which we are currently employed. It’s an awesome, thrilling mandate to think we give experience to Spirit. Wow! Maybe more tomorrow. Blessings! Life, this existence, amazes me. Even though I have down times and tough times — overall, woo hoo! Why? Because I know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, my truth, my Self, and my Purpose. I’m living it every day.
I have called my philosophy the Grand Unified Theory of Humanity. A grand unified theory brings together rather disparate dynamics via many mathematical mechanisms of which I have no freakin’ understanding; however, those formulas based on observations and known laws reduce those dynamics back to a common, original state. Coming to know core Self, Heart, holds that key, is the unifying force of the dynamics of humanity: relationships, society, purpose for existence. However, without that knowledge, it all falls apart for the individual, which means it ripples to society. Life falls apart in terms of having all the awesome experiences we come here for. It doesn’t mean that people aren’t valuable and worthwhile and loved, but it does mean they never put their lives into perspective, never feel quite right about themselves in many capacities. This is why I desire to help people discover core Self in any way I can. It’s too much to pass on the possibilities we hold within these bodies. It’s not a matter of right or wrong, but it is a matter of living a full, significant, happy, satisfying, connected life of Purpose. The Heart we come here with, that piece of Spirit that is personalized by all the rest of our being — ego, mind, body, soul — desires us to awaken to the fulness and magic and miracles and joys and wonders of this Universe in our own special ways and live those in our everyday life. Heart desires to connect with the totality of our being, and once that happens, we desire through the operating system of Heart instead of Ego to reveal in love our core Self, who Heart is. That is the way of the Heart. We know what to do because we co-create Purpose with Heart; we have regular fellowship with the Heart. Continuing in my computer operating system (os) analogy, once our Heart os is working smoothly, it will keep sending our mind and soul prompts to connect with a network. That connection, that network, is The Fellowship ofthe Heart. Fellowship with the Heart is sacred and blessed, but as I have said before, Hearts know things. They love unity — the unity of our being on a personal level, the unity we can have with those around us, whether they operate through Ego or Heart, the unity with the Universe and Spirit — these result form fellowship with the Heart. Hearts discern, though, and they sense those others who have chosen their Heart as primary operating system. They delight to be close to such others. Those people who we share with in deep, constructive, productive ways, who we share with in love and joy and laughter, who know the path of Heart and the opposition of Ego and those who live in Ego — those people in the same network engage us, motivate us, delight us; we need that kind of fellowship. The Fellowship of the Heart is Step 8. This step is also sacred, full of the magic and mystery of the energies of life, those things which can only be understood by others who have known fellowship with their own Heart. Such connections are relatively rare, but when they occur they are marked by an unmistakable bond. If you have those with whom you can share the magic and mysteries of life, with whom you could speak for days about Purpose and Mission and Goals, with whom you can laugh and share a meal, with whom you can enjoy a beer or drink and laugh some more, never, ever let those connections go cold. If you do, you will not feel good about it; your Heart will see to that with appropriate error messages, just like our computers give us. I got to share in such fellowship today with a young friend, and our Hearts know that we need and deserve to enjoy the journey with those who are like-minded. My friend and I shared in all of those things I mentioned in the previous paragraph. Do you think I had a good day?! Blessings in The Fellowship of the Heart! |
Questions to consider:How many times have you asked yourself or simply thought about the following questions?
Who am I, really? What is my truth? How do my actions reveal what I really feel and believe? What would I do with my life if I could do anything? What is my passion? Why am I here? How can I discover answers to any of these questions? If you have considered any of these questions, I hope that my experiences and writing will give you some guidance. Please read my blog and comment and share your thoughts. I would love to hear from you! Archives
